Individuals who may be welcomed into The Light Community include: 

• Those who have completed at least one full year of a structured recovery program and are ready for second‑ or third‑stage growth. 

• Individuals coming from shelters or established programs, rather than directly off the street. 

• Clients seeking a stable, working homestead environment where daily responsibilities support continued recovery. 

• Individuals willing to participate in community life, volunteerism, and shared responsibilities. 

• Clients able to engage in weekly counseling, recovery classes, and spiritual development through Crossroads Community Baptist Church – The Light Community. 

• People who desire hands‑on work such as gardening, landscaping, animal care, and homestead maintenance. 

The Light Community exists to provide a safe, structured, faith‑centered environment where individuals can: 

• Strengthen their recovery 

• Build practical skills 

• Develop healthy routines 

• Participate in meaningful work 

• Grow spiritually and emotionally 

• Prepare for long‑term independence 

This is a working homestead.  Every resident contributes to the life, health, and mission of the community. 

Residents at The Light Community participate in a structured, working homestead environment. Expectations include: 

• Monthly Program Fee: $450• Our goal is to work towards this as quickly as possible 

• Random Drug Testing to maintain a safe and sober environment 

• Community Involvement & Volunteerism as part of daily life 

• Part‑Time Employment at some point during the program 

• Weekly Biblical Counseling 

• Weekly Community Bible Study Attendance 

• Animal Care Participation (sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, horses) 

• Gardening & Landscaping Participation 

• Respectful engagement in community life, shared spaces, and homestead responsibilities 

 For the safety and stability of the community, The Light Community does not accept: 

• Individuals with arson convictions 

• Individuals with sexual predator or sexual offense histories 

• Individuals with severe unmanaged mental health conditions 

• Mental health concerns are evaluated case‑by‑case to ensure safety and appropriate support 

• Individuals coming directly off the street without prior program structure 

• Individuals unwilling to participate in community expectations, volunteerism, or homestead responsibilities
